Assistant position at the Tectonophysics Institute at
the University of Mainz, Germany
We seek an outstanding candidate to fill an assistant position for initially up to 6 years with an emphasis on thematic structural geology (salary based on German EG13 TV-H scheme depending on the experience of the candidate). This is a research and teaching position with some administrative duties in the department. The candidate is expected to develop her/his own research profile in thematic or quantitative structural geology including the successful application of research grants. The Tectonophysics Institute has a laboratory for analogue modelling, computing resources, GIS applications, microscopes and the possibilities to use X-ray microtomography. We are a vital international team working on a number of thematic projects on different continents.
The candidate should hold a PhD in Earth Sciences or a related subject, have preferably at least 2 years of PostDoc experience and a good research record. High level English language skills are required.
