Computer Modelling Group (CMG) requires a creative engineer, with a knowledge of both the practical and theoretical aspects of petroleum production engineering, to help develop and deliver a step-change in integrated reservoir and production systems modeling software.
Working as part of a multi-discipline software team, you will:
* Contribute to the design of software that will not only meet the needs, but also exceed the expectations, of production engineers.
* Help develop clear specifications for new software features in the area of integrated reservoir and production network simulation and optimization. To accomplish this, you will need to draw on the experience of production engineers from partner oil companies, learning from their experience and requirements.
* Lead the development of realistic test cases, ensuring the software will perform in "real life".
* Provide suggestions and critiques on the user interface and usability of the software.
* Work with a documentation specialist to develop technical documentation and training materials, that clearly explain the workings of the software and how to use it to their advantage.
Specific skills and experience that are required for this position include:
* A team player with excellent communication skills.
* A degree in Engineering with recognition given for a graduate degree.
* A minimum of 5 years experience in integrated petroleum production system modeling, using production modeling software, such as GAP, Prosper, or HYSYS.
* Experience in the optimization of couple network and reservoir(s) systems.
* Good computer skills, including some level of programming ability.
* Understand the physics of petroleum fluids, wells, pipelines and related items.
Desirable skills and experience include:
* Experience with production operations where thermal effects are important.
* Software development experience.
* Experience assisting with the development of technical documentation and training materials.
