Level C ($92,391 - $106,539)
The School of Earth & Environmental Sciences and the Cooperative Research Centre for Deep Exploration Technologies (DETCRC) are seeking an experienced research fellow for a 3 year contract.
The position will be funded by the DETCRC through the University of Adelaide but will be embedded within the Geological Survey of South Australia, Primary Industries and Resources South Australia (PIRSA) with offices on Grenfell Street, Adelaide.
The researcher will have a key role within the DETCRC Project 3.4 (South Australian Data Integration and Delivery through Mineral Potential Mapping) and will operate at the interface between government, academia and industry research within the CRC framework. The researcher will be required to manage complementary research activities that:
* Assimilate and synthesise large and diverse geological, geophysical and geochemical data with a view to mapping mineral systems and exploration potential at a regional scale:
* Develop practical tools and/or protocols for mineral exploration in deeply covered geological terranes:
* Provide an interface for technical communication and data integration between PIRSA, the University of Adelaide and the DETCRC.
This position offers a unique opportunity to research whole-of-process mineral systems (particularly IOCG mineralisation) from regional to deposit scale and develop methodologies to target those systems using GIS mappable criteria.
The candidate should have a background in Exploration Geoscience, Mineral Systems, mineral deposit geology or a related field. Work experience in industry and/or geological surveys would be an advantage.
