Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with environmental legislation.
Maintain a system for collecting, analysing and reporting environmental metrics, including incidents,discharges, resource use, wastes, emissions, compliance, training, etc.
Monitor, recommend and implement actions in relation to environmental trends, issues, legislative changes and best Practices. Communicate findings and actions to relevant parties throughout the organisation.
Deliver environmental advice, assistance and support to HSE line management globally.
Cultivate and maintain relationships for environmental stewardship with academic and non-government organisations.
Provide expertise, peer assist and internal audit for environmental management systems and ISO 14001 certification.
Perform audits and gap analyses against the Sustainability Policy, HSEC Management Standards and relevant guidelines and procedures to identify areas for continual improvement in environmental performance.
Develop training to ensure that the entire workforce recognises their own responsibility for environmental performance.
Assess and reduce the organisation's environmental risks through the use of risk workshops, preparation of risk registers and implementation of action plans.
Represent Petroleum in internal and industry associations.
Coordinate with External Affairs regarding outreach and company participation in community projects with an environmental component.
Develop programs to minimise potential environmental incidents (e.g., spills), personnel exposure and long term liabilities, especially concerning wastes and site closures.
Manage environmental research projects.
Qualifications (combination of)
Engineering or Science Degree
HES Management
Audit certification
Risk management courses.
HES management Courses
Experience & Technical Competencies (combination of)
HSE experience in oil and gas
Speciality (Marine, Exploration, Drilling or Production)
Technical Proficiency - Environmental Management Systems
HSE Regulations Understanding
Technical Proficiency in and knowledge of Operation Procedures
Technical Proficiency in Documentation requirements.
Experience in HSE reporting systems
