Think BHP Billiton.POSITION DESCRIPTION: Provide analysis and interpretation of petroleum systems and basin modeling data for New Venture, Exploration, Development, and Production projects in order to permit better estimation of risk prior to investment decisions; influence the assessment of new technology and methodologies within petroleum systems and basin modeling disciplines; provide inputs on source, migration, timing, seal capacity, reservoir quality, and fluid phase/quality to risk-based decision making; provide expert input for peer assists and peer reviews; provide consistent geological interpretation and maps necessary for 3D basin modeling projects; build networks with peers and colleagues internally; provide input to management on petroleum systems and basin modeling software, technology, workflows, and best practices; work with other discipline specialists to build and calibrate appropriate basin models for BHP USA business teams seeking information on: source rock thermal maturity, hydrocarbon charge risk assessment, top seal integrity/capacity, formation pressure prediction, reservoir property/quality estimation, seismic velocities, and reservoir quality/effectiveness due to diagenesis; maintain awareness of business context of the basin models being provided to ensure that they are fit-for-purpose with appropriate deliverables; provide assistance to asset team interpreters to provide appropriate maps for input to basin modeling projects to ensure consistency and timely delivery of basin modeling products for business decisions; and liaise with software providers, industry User Groups, and academic programs to ensure that BHP USA remains at the competitive edge.REQUIREMENTS: Requires Master's in Petroleum Geoscience (with specialization in Petroleum Systems) plus 2 years of experience in basin modeling and multiple basin modeling software packages (Temis, Mpath, and Trinity) in multiple basins and geological environments as well as geocellular modeling in GoCAD.
