Job Description

The Leibniz Institute of Marine Sciences at (IFM-GEOMAR) is offering a:

Lab research assistant LA-HR-ICP-MS

in the research unit "Magmatic and Hydrothermal Systems" of the research division "Dynamics of the Ocean Floor"

Job Description / Duties

Responsibilities include the development of analytical methods and system optimization in close cooperation with the responsible scientific Lab Manager, implementation of new lab routines (incl. instrumental control and data reduction software). Quality control (sample documentation, evaluation and archiving of large data sets) and lab safety are also part of the duties. This position also includes maintenance of the hardware and purchase of spare parts. Finally, supervision and optimization of sample preparation procedures (incl. clean lab) are expected.

Qualification

* Chemical engineer (MSc.) or related
* Analytical experiences in mass spectrometry (ICP-MS or TIMS) and/or laser ablation (incl. system maintenance)
* Strong ability to work independently with a high degree of responsibility
* Fluent in German and English

This is a full-time position. The position can not be split.

This is an offer for a permanent position.

The salary depends on qualification and could be up to the class E12 TV-L of the German tariff for public employees.
