Job Purpose & Scope:
Provide Expert advice and consultation in all Petroleum Engineering activities that directly impact COMPANY’s short and long term business and field development plans. In addition, the incumbent is also responsible for sharing Petroleum Engineering best practices among Asset teams. The scope of the job covers the following:
•Drilling operations and well engineering activities (well testing, well completion, stimulation, sampling, scale and asphaltene mitigation techniques etc.).
•Conceptual well and completion design, artificial lift method, network modeling and production optimization.
•Petroleum management and monitoring programs.
•Dissemination of best practices/methods.
•Advice on resource planning, development, training and recruitment for PE staff, in line with CAMS and with special emphasis on UAE Nationals to achieve 75% nationalization by 2009.
Main Duties/Accountabilities:
Technical Responsibilities
HSE
•Follows Company’s health, safety, and environment policy, procedures, regulations and objectives as they relate to his or her area of responsibility and ensure that they are effectively implemented in this domain.
Production and Drilling Operations advice related to:
•Provides proposals for drilling, testing, workover and completion activities.
•Investigates problems related to production technology and recommended solutions.
•Applies new technology in areas related to production, injection and artificial lift. Includes advice on the direction and participation in feasibility studies.
•Develops Best Practices and quality control procedures to enhance work processes.
•Prepares Techno-economical analysis for drilling and workover activities.
•Presents final reports to shareholders (PDISC, TCM & workshops, Peer Assists, etc.).
Strategy for Petroleum Engineering Software and Hardware
•Advises Management on the petroleum engineering software and hardware strategies/contracts and requirements, in coordination with Asset teams.
Transfer of Petroleum Engineering Experience and Technology
•Keeps abreast of technological development in the field of petroleum engineering and coordinates application to fields.
•Facilitates introduction of strategic technologies that reduce cost, maximize recovery or improve work processes.
•Leads regular Petroleum Engineering Discipline meetings to promote the transfer of experience, knowledge and best practice across Assets.
•Assist in the development of a knowledge management system to capture and disseminate best practices and guidelines.
Competence Assurance
•Reviews discipline development frameworks as needed.
•Verifies CAMS assessments for Petroleum Engineering as per COMPANY policy requirements.
•Participates in Career Ladder assessments of PE staff and offers guidance and advice as required.
•Reviews training material and facilitates alignment with CAMS requirements
•Advises Line Management on personal development plans and on the job training programs aligned to development framework.
•Participates in interview panels of PE and other subsurface disciplines.
•Acts as Focal Point for all PE matters in COMPANY, encourages their professionalism through regular meetings and strives to provide a learning environment where PE can realize their potential.
•Ensures that technical staff development is consistent and according to set guidelines.
Project Management & Balanced Scorecard
•Participates in FFD Plan reviews and provides consultation on work issues and progress.
•Participates in the Key Performance Indicator development related to Petroleum engineering subjects.
•Advises on all major petroleum engineering project proposals. This includes assisting asset teams in reviewing the technical content of studies & projects prior to Project Board review.

Minimum Qualification, Knowledge, Skills and Experience/ (Key Competencies):
Technical
•15 years experience in the petroleum industry, with the last 10 years of wide experience, including a leadership position in the last 3 years.
•Strong analytical expertise, integration skills and planning ability
•Proven track record in technology application and transfer to operations.
Behavioral

Qualifications
•Minimum of BSc in Petroleum Engineering, Physics, Chemistry or equivalent Engineering degree. MSc or PhD is preferable.
•Excellent spoken and written knowledge of English
