Job Description

The Chamber of Shipping, located in London, is the trade association for the United Kingdom's dynamic shipping industry, which contributes close to £10 billion to our GDP. It represents the interests of UK-based ship owners and operators to Government, Parliament, the EU and other national and international organisations including the International Maritime Organisation.

The successful candidate for this role will have proven analytical skills, knowledge and interest in relevant areas, good oral and written communications and a keen eye for detail.

This post will report to the Director, Safety & Environment and will support the work of the Chamber's professional team (including a ship's captain and naval architect/ oceanographer) on issues relating to safety and the environment. Some relevant career experience would be advantageous.

This role will entail work in areas which include:

* environmental matters including emissions and coastal planning;
* the Chamber's assessment of the location and development of offshore renewable energy installations; and
* technical shipping matters under discussion within the International Maritime Organisation.
