Job Description

The Carbon Sequestration Research Group at Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory of Columbia University seeks a Post Doctoral Research scientist to participate in a research study of geologic carbon sequestration in a basaltic aquifer system. The main objective of the study is the development and application of geochemical tracers to study the reactive transport of carbon dioxide in a storage reservoir. Candidates with a strong foundation in earth sciences including aqueous environmental geochemistry and hydrology as well as analytical expertise in isotope geochemistry and dissolved gases are preferred. He/she should be able to work in a multidisciplinary research group conducting laboratory and field experiments. Ph.D. is required. Initial appointment is for two years, with the expectation of continuation for a third year depending on resources and progress. Preferred starting date is January 1, 2011.
