Job Description

The Department of Geological Sciences, Faculty of Chemistry, Pharmacy and Geosciences, of the Albert-Ludwigs-University in Freiburg, Germany invites applications for a research associate (“Akademischer Rat”) position, starting 1st of March 2011.

This is a full time position limited to 3 years with the option of extension for an additional 3 years.

The Department of Geological Sciences seeks a qualified geoscientist with an internationally recognized scientific profile and an excellent PhD degree in geosciences. Particular research interests for this position include micro analytics (SEM, TEM, Raman), analogue modelling, remote sensing, rock mechanics, or the investigation of highly dynamic geological processes. The successful candidate is expected to teach courses of the Department’s B.Sc. “Geosciences” and M.Sc. “Geology” programmes as well as maintain the Department’s rock mechanical laboratory and geophysical equipment.

Salary for the position will be according to A13. The university aims at increasing the percentage of female professors and thus encourages qualified women scientists to apply.
