POSITION SUMMARY / ROLE PURPOSE:
The Sr. EHS Specialist Emerging Areas provides EHS&SR support to the Emerging Areas Global Supply Chain team. This team are usually the first Hess people "on the ground" in a new location or the first operational staff to arrive before exploration drilling commences.
This role will be responsible to ensure a consistent approach to all aspects of EHS management when setting up logistics bases in any emerging areas where Hess operates. Collaboration with all other elements of the EHS&SR function is paramount. Assure technical standards, business, legal, regulatory and compliance requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Planning
- Input to decisions re potential sites for logistics bases
- Input to Emerging Areas (EA) project plans to ensure EHS elements are addressed and EHS activities are identified on the plan
- Input to scope of work for tenders for logistics services (bases, aviation, vessels) and evaluation of responses to those tenders.
- Ensure audits on potential 3rd party bases are carried out. Provide advice on the basis of the results of these audits on choosing a specific base.
- Determine, along with GSC management, whether on-the-ground EHS support is needed
- If on-the-ground support is needed, assist in hiring/procuring that support
- Coordinate ER planning with EA, GSC and EHS personnel ensuring adequate plans are in place prior to operations commencing.
- Ensure medical and security support arrangements are in place and adequate prior to operations starting up
- Coordination/collaboration with Exploration EHS, Drilling EHS and regional EHS Managers
2. Ongoing Advice
- Develop, maintain, carry out and report on a schedule of site visits to include pre-start up contractor onboarding visits as well as inspections and audits of operational bases
- Provide ongoing EHS support, advice and coaching to EA team and lead on-the-ground EHS&SR support
- Where necessary, facilitate links into the wider EHS organization including Subject Matter Experts in the Centre Of Excellence
- Participate in or lead incident investigations
- Report on performance of EA bases to EA and GSC management
- Assist in closing out/suspending base operations
- Close liaison with Logistics Managers in EA's
- Key continuity role in the value chain "handover" process
3. Development of Systems and Competencies
- Further development of "standardised approaches" in consultation with EA management and Logistics Managers
- Development of EHS&SR training for EA Logstics personnel and delivery of training where appropriate
- Provide a conduit to individual subject matter experts in the COE or within business facing EHS organisations
Qualifications
REQUISITE KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:
Knowledge of logistics base operations
Extensive knowledge of lifting operations, cranes, fork lift trucks, etc
Knowledge of marine operations
Able to develop emergency response plans
Good verbal communication skills

10-15 years of relevant experience according to the following:
