Job Description

Shale Gas. This primarily a geological role with strong focus on unconventional, mainly shale gas plays. The incumbent will be expected to assess Shale Gas projects related to own concessions, to the evaluation of new acreage and farm-in opportunities. He will work in a multidisciplinary team which requires a good understanding of related disciplines. He will liaise with economists and reservoir engineers to assist in the preparation of life-of-field sheets as input for economic evaluations. He will prepare the geologic documentation required for internal approval of projects, including risk assessments and he will advise his superior, the leader of the Company G&G Technology Group.

University degree in Geoscience or closely related field. Fluent in English (oral and written)

Minimum 10 years of professional E&P experience (Senior level). Candidate will ideally have a track record in Shale Gas projects. Experience with unconventional play assessments (risking, valuation). Experience in Geomechanics and structural geology, familiar with concepts of natural fracture systems. Ability to translate results from seismic reservoir characterisation into geologic models.

Experience with geologic modelling software. Candidate will have strong Sedimentology background. Candidate has performed geologic basin and play assessments including risk assessment. Experience in well site operations, production geology, well design, and completion technologies (hydraulic fraccing). Familiar with European regional geology would be an advantage.

Good skills in Petrophysics and familiar with rock physics and analytical methods, especially in shales. Petroleum systems analysis skills and proficiency in basin modelling software (Trinity, PetroMod) would be an advantage. Economic evaluation of conventional and unconventional plays. Ability and willingness to cooperate with research institutions. Self-motivated team player with a strong and positive can-do attitude. Strong communication and presentation skills.

Tight Gas. The candidate will work within a multidisciplinary tight gas team. She/he will be responsible to ensure effective know how transfer between different parts of the Company organisation (Russia, Germany, Netherlands, Argentina). The candidate will liaise with the operating units and research institutes making sure that the organisation will benefit from R&D results. She/he will closely work together with reservoir engineers, Petrophysicist, geophysicists, drilling engineers and economists. The candidate will advise his superior on all G&G matters related to tight gas developments. The incumbent will actively evaluate new tight gas business opportunities and bring them forward for board approval.

University degree in Geophysics, Geology or closely related field.

Industry training to keep up to date with recent tight gas technology. Fluent in English(oral and written).Min. of 10 years oil industry experience, Expert knowledge of Tight Gas G&G methodologies (reservoir characterisation, geologic modelling, seismic monitoring), Active involvement in tight gas projects, including planning of horizontal wells with multiple fracs. Good understanding of Geomechanics. Proficiency in structural geology, fracture analysis and modelling. Experience in clastic depositional systems. Skilled in formation evaluation and in reservoir geology. Experience with diagenetic processes and their effect on reservoirs. Experience in Operations Geology.

Very good understanding of related disciplines (Petrophysics, reservoir engineering, petroleum engineering, drilling engineering etc.), Good understanding of project economics, Good computer skills including good knowledge, experience and capability in using G&G software packages including GeoFrame, Petrel, RMS. Team player, able to participate in an international multi-disciplinary team of experts. Strong communication skills.
