Maxxam Analytics is pleased to invite applications for the new position of Senior Scientific Specialist working out of our Petroleum Technology Center located in Edmonton.

As Senior Scientific Specialist, the successful candidate will be expected to improve existing methodologies and implement new testing methods used within the oilsands industry. You will be required to work on the bench within the analytical setting of Canada's' largest petroleum laboratory as well as be comfortable communicating to clients at trade shows, workshops and seminars both expanding Maxxams' capabilities and promoting existing ones.

A proven track record of Oilsands project management or application experience with a minimum of 10 years applied to this field is a required. Experience in applications such as Batch Extraction, Flocculation, Settling, EOR, and Process Tailings Management would be highly beneficial.

As technical representative for Maxxams' oilsands analytical capabilities, you will also be required to visit oilfield productions sites, pilot plants, and treatment / upgrading facilities to communicate directly with production engineers and project managers' first hand to bring the science to the field while communicating the engineering and production challenges back into the laboratory.

Ideal candidate will have:

* Excellent customer facing skills; Ability to communicate effectively in a boardroom setting.
* Requires post secondary education with a minimum of 10 years experience related to studies or applications surrounding the Oilsands industry.
* Excellent knowledge of current laboratory practices, processes and automation with emphasis on those related to Oilsands testing.
* Software: The ideal candidate will be comfortable using Microsoft office and be able to prepare and manipulate presentations, spreadsheets, graphs, and tables at an intermediate to an advanced level. Experience using Data Acquisition Software such as EZChrome, Chemstation or Peaksimple is desired but not essential.
* Skills: customer service, open communication, mentoring, coaching, analytical mindset. Dynamic, energetic, motivated, positive outlook.
